A floor plan is the picture of one floor. It belongs to a building or directly to a location, and on it you pin where each space lies. Uploading, changing, deleting and pinning are done by the Organisation Admin and the Access Manager. The work starts on a building's or location's page, on the Maps tab.
Also called: level plan, floor layout, building plan. The screen says map, and pin for marking where a space lies.
The location exists, and for a building's floor plan the building too. Pinning needs the spaces there. How to create all three is in Set up locations, buildings and spaces.
The floor plan is a PNG, JPG or PDF file of at most 25 MB.
You work in a desktop browser. portierX converts the picture in your browser before it uploads.
Under Locations, open the location with See Details. For a building, then open the building on the Buildings tab with See Details.
Click Upload Map. portierX switches to the Maps tab and opens the Upload map drawer.
Enter a Name for the picture.
Enter the floor under Map label, the way people in the building call it, for example Ground or Level 2.
Pick the file under Picture.
Click Upload.
All three fields are required. portierX converts the picture in your browser and then uploads it. From a PDF, portierX takes the first page. The floor plan appears on the Maps tab as a tile with its map label. On the tab, Upload map adds the next floor.
The header of a location's or building's page shows one of its floor plans. The main map decides which one. On the Maps tab, open the tile's three-dot menu and click Set as main map. The tile then carries Main map.
Without a main map, the header shows the first floor plan in the order of the map labels. A switch in the header changes between photos and floor plan. With several floor plans, a list in the header picks another one.
Pinning is done by the Organisation Admin and the Access Manager, on the Maps tab, from the floor plan's tile.
On the tile, click Manage spaces. The floor plan opens together with the list of spaces that can sit on it.
The first space without a pin is already picked. Click the point on the floor plan where it lies. portierX then picks the next space without a pin.
For a particular space, click Pin on its row, then click the floor plan.
Click Submit. Only then does portierX save the pins.
Every space carries a number, in the list and on its pin on the floor plan. A line counts the spaces pinned. A count with Submit gives the pins the click will save. With the keyboard, the arrow keys move a crosshair, in larger steps with Shift held. Enter places the pin and Escape cancels.
If part of the pins fail to save, portierX says how many were saved. The rest stay in place, and another click on Submit tries them again. Back to maps returns to the tiles. With unsaved pins, portierX asks Leave without submitting?, and Discard and leave drops them.
If no spaces belong on this floor plan, Go to Spaces takes the Organisation Admin to the Spaces list to create them. The Credential Manager and the Security Monitor open the same view with Manage spaces and see the pins without changing them.
Moving and removing are done by the Organisation Admin and the Access Manager, in the same view under Manage spaces. These changes too take effect only with Submit.
To move a pin, click Move on the space's row or click its pin on the floor plan, then click the correct point.
To remove a pin, click the cross on the space's row.
Pins on the same spot merge into one. Clicking it lists the spaces there, each with Move and the cross.
A space pinned on another floor names that floor on its row and offers to move the pin here. After the question Move this space here?, Move here places the pin on this floor. The pin on the other floor goes when you save.
When the plan of a floor changes, replace the picture and keep the map label and the pins. The Organisation Admin and the Access Manager do this on the Maps tab.
Open the tile's three-dot menu and click Replace picture.
Pick the replacement file under Picture.
Click Replace picture.
The pins keep their position on the picture. If the replacement plan is cropped or laid out differently, move them. Until the replacement picture is ready, the tile shows the previous one. If the replacement file cannot be converted, the previous picture stays and the tile says so.
On the Maps tab, the tile's menu offers Edit details. The Edit map drawer shows Name and Map label, and Save finishes. The picture itself is swapped with Replace picture. The Organisation Admin and the Access Manager make these changes.
On the Maps tab, click Delete map in the tile's menu. The question names the number of pins on this floor plan, and Delete map confirms. portierX removes the floor plan and its pins. The spaces stay and can be pinned on another floor plan. The Organisation Admin and the Access Manager delete floor plans.
While portierX prepares a picture, the tile says so. If the conversion failed, the tile names the reason and offers only Replace picture and Delete map. While a replacement picture is being prepared, the menu offers neither Edit details nor Delete map. Manage spaces and Set as main map appear only on a finished floor plan.
The floor plan preview shows where a space lies. It is open to the Organisation Admin, Access Manager, Credential Manager and Security Monitor, and it opens from three places. In the Spaces list and in the space lists of a location or building, click the floor in the Map column. On a space's page, the floor plan in the overview opens it. In the header of a location or building, a button enlarges the floor plan shown.
The preview names the floor, location and building and shows the space marked.
Show other pins shows the other spaces on this floor, and Hide other pins hides them again.
The zoom buttons enlarge the plan, and the mouse moves it around.
Opened from a space list or a space's page, clicking another pin opens that space's page.
Uploading, replacing, changing, setting the main map and deleting are written to the Audit Log, as is every pin placed, moved and removed.
A pinned space shows its floor in the Map column of the Spaces list. The list is described in Find and filter spaces.
Once a floor plan is deleted, the spaces pinned on it show no floor.
Uploading, replacing, changing, deleting, the main map and pinning need the Organisation Admin or Access Manager role. The Credential Manager and the Security Monitor see floor plans, pins and the preview and change nothing. For them Upload Map is disabled, and the hint on the button gives the reason. The Individual role sees no floor plans.
A floor plan is a PNG, JPG or PDF file of up to 25 MB. From a PDF, portierX takes the first page.
portierX refuses a PNG or JPG picture of more than 100 million pixels.
portierX stores each floor plan as one picture of at most 8192 pixels on its long side.
Floor plans are uploaded from a desktop browser. If a browser cannot convert the picture, the drawer shows a notice and Upload stays disabled.
Name takes up to 255 characters and Map label up to 64. Both are required.
Each map label exists once per building or location.
A building's floor plan holds the spaces of that building. A location's floor plan holds the location's spaces that are in no building.
A space is pinned on at most one floor per building or location.
Each building and each location has at most one main map.
Pins take effect only with Submit.
