The protection need records how much protection a place needs. You set it on a location, a building or a space, and everything inside reads it too. Setting it is the Organisation Admin's job, in the place's edit drawer under Protection need.
Also called: security level, protection class, restricted area.
Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
Not set | The place has no level of its own. It reads the level of the places above it, if one is set there. |
Normal | Records the assessment. It shows in the lists and can be filtered on. |
High | As Normal, one level up. |
Very high | Marks the place as restricted. A key that opens it is handed over only after approval. |
Who gives the approval, and what applies when nobody can, is on the pages under Related.
A place reads the highest of its own level and the levels of the places above it, its building and its location. At Nordwerk Industries the Labor- und TechnikgebÀude is set to High. Every space in it with no level of its own reads High. The Serverraum is set to Very high itself and reads Very high.
In the drawer this means:
A level below the inherited one cannot be chosen. The hint under the field names the place that sets the higher level.
When the place inherits a level, the first option is Use inherited with the level and the place. It clears the place's own level, and the place reads the one from above. When it inherits nothing, the option is Not set.
On a location or a building, the hint says that everything inside reads this level unless it records a higher one.
When a place above is raised later, a place inside keeps its own level and reads the higher one. Its page shows both.
Open the place's edit drawer: Edit Location, Edit Building or Edit Space. How to open it is in Set up locations, buildings and spaces.
Under Protection need, pick the level. Use inherited or Not set clears the place's own level.
Click Save Changes (Save changes in Edit Space).
The field is there only when editing. Set the level of a place you create once it exists.
Under Spaces, the Protection need column shows the level each space reads. When it comes from above, the place is named under it. Very high is highlighted, and its hint explains the restriction. The Protection need filter narrows the list to one or more levels, Not set included. It matches the level a space reads, inherited levels included.
The same column is in a building's Space List and on a space group's Spaces tab.
Every change is written to the Audit Log with the old and the chosen level. Saving without a change writes nothing.
Everything inside the place reads the chosen level at once, unless it records a higher one.
When a space reads Very high, every key that opens it waits for approval before the handover. When nobody can approve, the room is listed under Places that need attention.
The Organisation Admin sets the protection need. The other roles see the level and do not change it.
A level of its own below the inherited one cannot be set. Clearing is always possible.
Raising a place does not change what the places inside record. They read the higher level.
Normal and High record the assessment and change nothing else. Only Very high asks for approval.
