You add a key or card by hand when neither a master key plan import nor a connected locking system supplies the credential. It needs the Organisation Admin role. One way starts under Access Credentials with Add; the other sits inside assigning access, when a person needs a card that has to be issued first.
Also called: key, card, transponder. portierX calls each of them a credential.
If the key belongs to a master key plan, import the plan (see Import your master key plan from an XML file). If the credential comes from a connected locking system, the connection creates it. Add by hand only what comes from neither source, or you will carry the same credential twice.
Have the marking on the key or card to hand if you want your own ID instead of the suggestion.
Open Access Credentials and choose Add. The Add Credential panel opens.
Credential ID: portierX suggests an ID and holds it for you while the panel is open. Keep it, or type over it with the marking on the key. Required, 24 characters at most, used once in the organisation. If no suggestion arrives, choose Retry or type an ID yourself.
Credential Name: optional, 100 characters at most. A name makes the credential findable in lists; a bare ID does not.
Under Access Point Connection, use Connect to access point to pick the doors the key opens. If a door is missing, create it here through Add Access Point: Create Access Point asks for Access Point ID (required, 50 characters at most) and Access Point Name, Create & Connect creates the door and links it, Discard closes the sub-form. The link is optional and can be added later.
If the credential is a special case, choose its Kind under Special case: Permanently validated, Emergency card, Fire brigade key depot or Other. The default is Not a special case. With a kind chosen, Reason is required, 500 characters at most.
Choose Add Credential. Cancel discards everything, the suggested ID included.
The second way sits inside assigning access (see Give a person access). When the person holds no suitable card for a connected electronic locking system, portierX offers an option marked New credential among the choices. This way needs the Organisation Admin role too.
Choose that option. The Issue New Credential dialog names the locking system, the person and the number of access points the card will be programmed for.
Enter the Credential ID for each card, required and 24 characters at most, and optionally a Credential Name.
Choose Issue and assign. No, Cancel discards the entry and leaves the assignment open.
The assignment then continues as for any other key: review, hand-over, confirmation. The card is programmed once the hand-over is confirmed.
The credential appears in the Access Credentials list as its own row, In stock and with no holder. Its page lists the linked access points, and a special case shows as a flag on the row.
A card issued while assigning is tied to the locking system and to the access points of the chosen spaces, and goes into the hand-over with the rest of the assignment.
The form creates one credential with no copies. Further copies of a key from the master key plan are added with Add Copy on the key's Copies tab.
The ID is used once in the organisation. portierX refuses a second credential with the same ID when you save.
A credential created without the suggestion needs at least one linked access point.
A card that could not be created while issuing and assigning is skipped; the others are created and assigned.
A special case can also be set or changed later from the credential's row.
A credential you have added is issued to nobody. Handing it to a person is the next, separate step.
