Every screen in portierX has the same sidebar, the same header and the same user menu. This page says what each entry is for and where it takes you. You see only the entries your role allows.
The sidebar starts with the name of the organisation you are working in. Three groups follow.
General holds the Dashboard: who holds which key, what is due back, and what is waiting for a decision.
Data Management is the daily work.
Spaces: the areas people need to reach. A room, a floor, a zone. Access is assigned from here.
Locations: your sites and the buildings on them.
People: everyone who needs access. Staff, contractors, anyone holding a key or a card. Groups are a tab here.
Access Credentials: what a person holds, and who holds it.
Depots: the key safes and cabinets where copies are kept and returned.
Access Points: doors, gates, cylinders. The place a credential is used.
Others holds review, connection and record.
Reviews: the access reviews, in which the people responsible confirm who still needs the access they hold.
Integrations: the connections to your locking systems, to Microsoft Entra ID and to your HR file. The master key plan is imported here too.
Audit Log: every change, with who made it and when.
Reports: the reports, first of all the incidents on keys and cards.
Settings: Organisation Admin only, with the pages User, Area Managers, Appearance, Email Branding, Notifications, Locking Plan Legend and Data Protection.
In everyday words, an access credential is a key, a card or a transponder, and a space is a room.
This is how the areas relate. A location has buildings, a building has spaces, and a space has access points. An access credential opens one or more access points, and a person holds one or more access credentials. You do not give a person a door, you give them a credential, and the credential opens the doors.
The button in the header folds the sidebar down to its icons and opens it again, as does ⌘B, or Ctrl+B on Windows. Folded, an entry's name appears when you point at its icon. portierX remembers whether you left the sidebar open.
The header starts with the sidebar button. Then comes the breadcrumb trail: the portierX logo takes you to your start page, then comes the area you are in, and last the page you are on. A long trail folds its middle into a menu with three dots. On an access point's page and on a connected integration's page, a link under the header takes you back to the list.
The Search... field opens the command menu. The button with the question mark, Help and feedback, opens the help menu.
The help menu has four entries. Report an Issue sends a bug report to portier. Request a Feature sends a suggestion. Roadmap opens the roadmap, where you see what has been suggested and what is planned. Help opens this help centre, whose search answers your question from the articles here.
Search... in the header, or ⌘K, Ctrl+K on Windows, opens the command menu. Its field reads Type a command or search.... The menu lists the same pages as the sidebar, in the same groups, plus the group Theme with Light, Dark and System. Type to filter the list and pick an entry to open the page.
The sidebar ends with your name. Clicking it opens the user menu. It shows your name and email address, the organisation you are working in, and three things you can do.
Switch organisation lists your other organisations, if you work in more than one. Clicking one switches at once. How the switch works, and how you set your default organisation, is on Work in several organisations with one login.
Account opens your account page. There you set which reminders portierX emails you.
Logout ends your session and returns you to the sign-in page.
The sidebar shows only the entries your role allows. Settings is for the Organisation Admin alone. Which role sees which entries is on What your role lets you see and do.
Which roles see the Dashboard, and what it shows each of them, is on Read the dashboard.
The sidebar and the command menu show the same entries.
You always work in exactly one organisation. Every list and every figure belongs to the organisation named in the sidebar.
